Mason Collective
Mixmag Lab Andorra | L’Abarset
Another Mixmag Lab session, this time from the slopes of L’Abarset in Andorra, and Mason Collective are here to prove that consistency is a superpower in the age of ADHD DJing. The vibe is all wooden beams and alpine air, but the sound is pure basement sweat—a deep house workout that doesn’t need gimmicks to grip you. Locked into a steady 127.7 BPM, this set is a masterclass in the 12A key’s hypnotic potential, with low-end energy dominating at 51% to create a fluid, undulating foundation. Mid-range frequencies at 29% allow for textured percussion and vocal snippets to shine, while the 19% high-end adds just enough sparkle to keep the dancefloor alert without jarring.
The mixing is relentless but smooth, a conveyor belt of groove where every track feels like a natural extension of the last. Crate-digging delights abound: MALU’s 'Midnight' opens with a dusky, atmospheric swell, while Jesus Stown’s 'Confianza' layers Afro-Latin rhythms over a sturdy bassline. Paul C & Paolo Martini’s 'Klong (Max Chapman & Apollo 84 Remix)' is a percussive monster, and Marian (BR)’s 'No Paramo' offers a moment of melodic, almost progressive introspection. Don’t sleep on the Mood II Swing classic 'Closer' in its Deepshakerz rework—a soulful touchstone that grounds the set in house history.
The journey builds from the moody inception of 'Midnight' through the peak-time drive of 'Klong', culminating in the raw, loop-heavy finale of Reox & Ryzio’s 'Vox of Groove'. A Mason Collective live set that’s less about fireworks and more about the slow, satisfying burn of a well-curated deep house tracklist.
