Richy Ahmed
FAUST on Cercle
It is always a laugh watching the tech-house lads wearing oversized sunglasses indoors, acting like a bridge in Paris is the new DC-10. They are all doing that weird, stiff-armed shuffle dance, completely ignoring the stunning architecture of FAUST to aggressively film the DJ booth. The venue is absolutely breathtaking, a dark, cavernous space beneath the Seine pulsating with blinding strobes and a serious groove. Delving into the Richy Ahmed FAUST on Cercle tracklist, this Richy Ahmed live set is a masterclass in chunky, rolling dancefloor weapons.
Sitting perfectly at a 125.2 BPM average, the set is heavily anchored in the 12A key, creating a relentless, hypnotic loop of Rominimal and tech-house energy. The mixing is tight and punchy, relying on heavy bassline switch-ups and classic vocal loops to keep the crowd moving. The crate digging is proper sorted, balancing obscure groovers with massive house anthems. Dropping Sidney Charles' 'U-Town' adds a brilliant, bouncy weight, but throwing in Todd Terry's 'Jumpin Original' is the undeniable highlight that absolutely sets the room on fire.
The journey is an endless groove, kicking off with the opening track 'Saw' by Gaetano C & DePandis to immediately establish the vibe. It rides a wave of claps and heavy kicks before wrapping up beautifully with the closing track, 'Come Feel the Love (DJ DLG Dub Mix)' by Sunhatch. Proper having it.
