FJAAK
Mixmag Lab London
FJAAK's Mixmag Lab London live set is a brutal, beautiful onslaught of hard techno and trance, the kind that makes you question your life choices while your feet refuse to stop moving. The Lab is reduced to a strobe-lit bunker, perfect for this high-BPM punishment. Averaging a fierce 137.4 BPM and spanning 120 to 140, this is a tour de force of peak-time energy, harmonically leaning hard on the 12A key for its driving, anthemic quality.
The energy balance is intense, with a powerful mid-range at 0.44 carrying the melodic weight and acid lines, supported by a robust low-end at 0.42 and piercing highs at 0.13 for that classic rave sting. FJAAK's mixing is merciless and precise, slamming tracks together with a punk ethos that's utterly compelling. The track selection is both nostalgic and forward-thinking: Ahadadream's 'Melty' starts with broken-beat chaos, Donato Dozzy's 'Duetto' offers hypnotic, minimal depth, and LB aka LABAT's 'I WANNA RAVE' (KiNK Remix) is a raw, jacking weapon.
The curveballs are genius: Rank 1's 'Airwave' and 2 Unlimited's 'No Limit' are deployed as sheer, unironic dancefloor explosives. Galaxy 2 Galaxy's 'Transition' and DÜK's 'Make Your Transition' provide deeper, Detroit-inspired moments. Opening with the shattered rhythms of 'Melty', building to a frenzied peak with the classic rave staples, and closing with the heads-down drive of Minichino's mix, this set is a euphoric assault on the senses.
