Awakenings 29.12
DJ Rush
There’s always that one bloke at the front of a DJ Rush set who has clearly been awake since Christmas Eve, jaw swinging like a pendulum, entirely oblivious to personal space. He’s flanked by techno tourists who expected a polite melodic warm-up and are now fighting for their lives in the trenches. The Gashouder is a sweaty, pulsating pressure cooker, with blinding strobes illuminating a crowd completely surrendered to the groove. Tearing through the DJ Rush Awakenings 29.12 tracklist, the Chicago legend commands a blistering 134 BPM average.
Pounding the 12A and 3B Camelot keys, the energy arc is a relentless, jacking rollercoaster. His mixing in this Techno live set is unapologetically raw, cutting hard and fast to keep the dancefloor in a state of constant frenzy. The crate digging here is a brilliant collision of old-school Chicago house and modern techno weapons. Dropping the legendary "Brighter Days (Underground Goodies Mix)" by Cajmere is pure masterclass status, brilliantly contrasted by dropping Tiësto's "Lethal Industry" to send the room into absolute meltdown.
Setting the pace immediately with a thumping Unknown opening track, Rush takes no prisoners. The madness peaks with HI-LO & Space 92’s "Mercury," before finally letting the exhausted crowd breathe with Enrico Sangiuliano's massive closing track, "Moon Rocks". Proper sorted.
