SickFlip
Mixmag Lab Goa
SickFlip takes the Mixmag Lab Goa booth, and immediately we're in that classic conundrum: is this progressive house, melodic techno, or just very good music? We stop caring and start dancing. The Goa lab probably has better ventilation than most clubs, but here the heat comes from the relentless, building energy. Averaging 124.5 BPM with a strong presence in the 12A key, this is a journey through driving, emotion-packed melodic house. The BPM climbs strategically from 91 to 133, mapping a deliberate arc from deep, atmospheric beginnings to peak-time propulsion. The energy profile is notably mid-heavy (0.74), meaning every synth lead and chord progression is designed to punch directly into the chest, while the low end provides a solid, rolling foundation.
SickFlip’s mixing is dynamic and assured, using long, harmonic blends to let tracks compound their emotional weight and create a seamless narrative flow. Standout tracks are a crate digger's dream. The timeless vocal hook of Rui Da Silva's 'Touch Me' is a true progressive house anthem that never fails to ignite a room. Franco Simone's 'Paisaje (Paesaggio)' is a beautiful, sun-drenched dig that adds unexpected Balearic warmth to the progression. Nic Fanciulli & Black Circle's 'Leap of Faith (Extended Mix)' provides a modern, driving tech-house pulse that locks in the groove.
Deetron's 'Photon' offers a moment of crystalline, Detroit-inspired beauty with its intricate melodies. Don't miss Jerome Isma-Ae & Alastor's 'String of Lights' for its trance-inflected euphoria, or Mr Raoul K & Manoo's 'Bara (feat. Ahmed Sosso) [Pablo Fierro Remix]' for its infectious African percussion. The journey begins with the iconic 'Touch Me', builds through the percussive marathon of 'DJ Lag - Drumming' as a peak moment, and gently descends with the warm, organic house of Pablo Fierro's 'Before' for a satisfying, sunrise-ready conclusion.
