Nosh & SJ in The Lab Mumbai
Mixmag
Sometimes the most satisfying sets are the ones that find a groove and mine it for all its subtle, hypnotic worth. Nosh & SJ’s session in The Lab Mumbai is a masterclass in tech-house tunnel vision, for those of us who can happily live in a 122 BPM loop for an hour. The vibe is dark, sweaty, and focused, a warehouse simulation where the percussion is the main character.
Technically, this is a study in minimal fluctuation, with a rock-solid BPM average of 122.4 and a tonal center often in 12A, creating a seamless, driving flow. The energy is meticulously balanced, with almost equal parts low and mid—notice the near-absence of high-end frequencies, which builds a pressurized, head-nodding intensity without ever breaking into chaos. Standout tracks from the full tracklist include Sumatrah’s dubby 'Why?,' Nihil Young & Less Hate’s atmospheric 'Visions,' and Progruss’s deep, rolling 'Astra Verna.' The inclusion of Zara Larsson & David Guetta’s 'On My Love' in a stripped-back context is a clever mainstream twist, while STYLO’s 'Got Mine (Jos & Eli Remix)' adds a touch of soulful garage flavor.
The journey is linear and effective: it starts with the vocal hook of Fistaz Mixwell & DJ Hloni’s 'I'm Free,' locks into the extended, moody groove of Modeplex’s 'Jaded (Supacooks Remix),' and drifts off into the cosmic finale of Soul of Sonic’s 'Neon Horizon.'.
