Keep Hush Live x Hong Kong: SLIMEFEST Takeover
There is a unique kind of ego death reserved for the people who thought they were 'finding themselves' on a muddy hill in Somerset, only to realize their tent leaks and they have been listening to a generator hum for three hours. They are the quintessential festival casualties, wrapped in foil blankets and staring into the void. Inside the tent, however, the vibe is a completely different beast—a humid, laser-soaked rave sanctuary. If you are furiously trying to find the [DJ] [venue] tracklist, this [DJ] live set is a totally unpredictable masterclass in Electronica.
Averaging a wild 140.7 BPM, the selector jumps fearlessly across 12A, 7A, and 5A keys, creating a disjointed, thrilling harmonic map. The energy is beautifully balanced across the low and mid frequencies, keeping the sound huge but intricate. The crate-digging is absolutely massive, pulling out the legendary neurofunk tear-out of 'Noisia - Machine Gun' and placing it alongside the unhinged electro-punk energy of 'Locked Club - It's My Rave'. It is a brilliant, chaotic flex.
The journey launches with the gloriously absurd 'Paraje - Animalaction (Macho Mix)' opening track, immediately letting the crowd know this isn't a serious, chin-stroking affair. The arc is a wild rollercoaster that finally detonates with the earth-shattering bassweight of the closing track, 'Hamdi - Skanka (Nikki Nair Remix)', sending the festival casualties back out into the mud completely reborn.
