Keep Hush Live: Bass Coast 2023
Greazus at Bass Coast 2023 is a joyous, genre-blurring riot—exactly the kind of set that reminds us not to take any of this too seriously. The outdoor festival energy is channelled into a playful, unpredictable ride. This is electro and bass house with a cheeky smile, bouncing at an average 141 BPM and loving the harmonic simplicity of 12A. The energy balance is fun and functional: solid low-end (avg 0.55) for dancing, bright mids for hooky melodies, and just enough high-end sheen.
Mixing is energetic and packed with curveballs, using quick cuts and playful blends to keep everyone guessing. The tracklist is a legendary troll in the best way. 'Breaka & Frazer Ray - The Loudest Woiioii Ever' opens with its ridiculous, self-aware sample. 'Surusinghe - Likshot' is a proper, wobbly bass music banger.
Then come the icons: 'Darude - Sandstorm' dropped without a hint of irony is a communal moment of pure, stupid joy. Faithless's 'Insomnia' in a Disclosure edit bridges generations, and closing with 'Yello - Oh Yeah' is a perfect, tongue-in-cheek farewell. Other gems include 'Steve Rachmad & Ignacio - Virton Upgraded' for techno purists and 'Skin On Skin - Burn Dem Bridges' for raw club power. It starts with a woiioii, peaks with a sandstorm, and ends on that iconic 'Oh Yeah'—a masterclass in crowd-pleasing without pandering.
