Keep Hush Live
Let's be honest: we all have a secret, shameful love for the cheesiest trance and eurodance anthems, and bella sarris's Keep Hush Live set is a glorious, unabashed celebration of that fact. This is the sound of collective, ironic-turned-genuine joy, where shouting along to 'Sandstorm' is a sacred rite. The vibe is a party where everyone is in on the joke, but the joke has dissolved into pure, unironic euphoria by the second chorus. On a technical level, sarris sticks to a solid 136 BPM trance and eurodance tempo, using the bright, major-key feel of 12A to keep the energy permanently sky-high. The energy is heavily skewed towards the low-end (0.75), with those iconic, four-to-the-floor kicks providing an unwavering foundation for the ridiculous melodies.
The mid-range (0.21) carries the synth hooks and vocal samples, while the high-end (0.04) is all about those piercing leads and air-raid sirens. Mixing is straightforward and effective, often using quick cuts to keep the pace frantic and the nostalgia dial turned to eleven. The tracklist is a hit parade: opening with System F's 'Out of the Blue' is a power move that announces the agenda immediately. Dropping Vengaboys' 'We Like To Party!' and 'Up & Down' back-to-back is pure, unadulterated camp. Darude's 'Sandstorm' is, of course, the unavoidable, arms-in-the-air peak.
Zombies In Miami's 'Sorry Not Sorry (Bliss Inc. Remix)' offers a slightly cooler, modern twist, and 2 Unlimited's 'No Limit' is a classic Dutch house rampage. The journey is a non-stop thrill ride: from the trance epic 'Out of the Blue', through the delirious peak of 'Sandstorm', to the buzzing synth finale of Otha's 'Club 20'.
