ANOTR
Boiler Room : Milan
We have to hand it to ANOTR—they understand that a proper party requires equal parts sweat and smile, and their Boiler Room Milan set is a joyous, funky house sermon. The vibe is pure Italian disco inferno, a sun-drenched (or strobe-simulated) crowd ready for soaring vocals and basslines that demand hip movement. Technically, it's a masterful display of energy management, starting at a cool 128 BPM and climbing to a peak of 146, all while cleverly using the 12A key as a home base for harmonic mixing. The energy balance is uniquely even between low (0.41) and mid (0.50), resulting in a set that's rich with melodic content and rhythmic detail without ever losing its danceable core.
Highs are used for climaxes, like dramatic string stabs or vocal chops. Their mixing is dynamic, often letting acapellas ride over new instrumental beds, creating a live, collage-like feel. The crate digging here is exceptional. Their own track '6am' opens with a slinky, infectious groove that sets the tone.
The inclusion of Blaze & Bicep's 'Lovelee Dae (Bicep Remix)' is a guaranteed hands-in-the-air moment, a sublime slice of garage-inflected house. Joey Seminara's 'Pump It Up' delivers raw, piano-driven energy, while True Spirit's 'Frog (90s Mix)' is a deep, jazzy excursion. For a peak-time curveball, dropping Anti-Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N.'s live version of 'Bang' is pure, unadulterated rave chaos. The journey starts with the inviting groove of '6am', escalates to the ecstatic peak of 'Lovelee Dae', and concludes on the classic, dusty funk of C-Rock's 'Funky Dope Trakk'.
