THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS in The Lab
for Miami Music Week
Miami Music Week in the Mixmag Lab means one thing: an incredibly sweaty room full of industry blokes nodding aggressively while holding overpriced tallboys. Everyone is wearing sunglasses indoors, obviously, and desperately trying to get in the YouTube frame. But the groove is undeniable in this THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS The Lab for Miami Music Week tracklist. The intimate, low-ceiling space transforms into a proper Bronx basement party, dripping with swagger, sweat, and serious house energy.
While the algorithm says Rominimal, this THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS live set is pure, unadulterated tech-house swagger. Locked at a bouncy 125.3 BPM and heavily utilizing the 12A key, the boys deliver a masterclass in rhythmic tension. Their mixing is fast, percussive, and relies on huge low-end cuts to keep the dancefloor moving. The crates have been thoroughly raided for this one.
Dropping Laid Back's classic "White Horse" is a massive flex, while Jack Back's "Survivor" brings peak-time heat. Brett Jonson's "Furtherer" gives the true house heads something to chew on. Kicking off with a chunky "Unknown - Unknown" opening track, the boys waste no time setting the pace. The room hits absolute scenes during The Mekanism's "Da Beat", before they sign off with a massive slice of disco funk—the closing track "Can You Move" by Modern Romance.
