Reinier Zonneveld
live at the State Aviation Museum in Kyiv, Ukraine for Cercle
Taking the whole "underground" aesthetic to an aviation museum is a proper flex for the techno tourists who usually just stand in the Berghain queue for hours in faux-leather harnesses. Give them some old planes and a fat kick drum, and they’re absolutely sorted. Set amongst the imposing metal husks of Soviet-era aircraft, the brutalist Kyiv sunset casts long, cinematic shadows over the raving masses. Operating at a brisk 132.5 BPM, this Techno set takes a dark journey through 12A, 7A, and 3B Camelot keys.
The low-end thumps at a robust 0.6349, while Zonneveld’s signature live-hardware mixing style means the energy arc is entirely at his chaotic mercy. It’s a relentless, driving progression. As a live hardware set, the Reinier Zonneveld State Aviation Museum tracklist is heavily self-produced, but the cheeky inclusion of Green Velvet's "La La Land" is a brilliant nod to the heads. Dropping Jodie Harsh’s "My House" in this setting is a mad, welcome curveball.
The Reinier Zonneveld live set begins with the visceral opening track "Intro (Live)", setting an immediate warehouse mood. A standout moment is the blistering "Scorchio" by KBG, before things wind down with the expansive 12-minute closing track "Outro (Live)".
