Awakenings Festival 2018 Saturday - Live set RØDHÅD
Area Y
Ah, Awakenings festival. The annual pilgrimage for techno tourists who bought a £90 matte black t-shirt specifically for this weekend and won't stop telling you about their spiritual experience at Berghain. Half the crowd is chewing their own face off, but they're doing it with impeccable rhythm. Industrial steel scaffolding and blinding strobes batter the Dutch masses in a beautiful display of mechanized chaos.
This Awakenings Festival 2018 Saturday - Live set RØDHÅD @ Area Y live set is a punishing, glorious affair. Locked in at a militant 133.2 BPM, the technical progression is a masterclass in hypnotic tension, revolving heavily around 12A and 3B Camelot keys. The mixing style is characteristically seamless, building a colossal Techno energy arc with a bone-rattling 0.67 low-end average. The track selection is an absolute dream for the discerning crate digger, blending relentless subterranean groovers with massive euphoric curveballs.
Dropping the Rollo & Sister Bliss remix of Faithless's "We Come 1" alongside Rank 1's "Airwave" is the kind of mad brilliance we expect. The journey starts in the shadows with an "Unknown" opening track, immediately establishing a sense of brooding dread. The undisputed highlight of the RØDHÅD Area Y tracklist is when the iconic synths of "We Come 1" tear through the warehouse. The set finally releases its grip with the transcendent closing track, Pete Lazonby's "Sacred Cycles".
