James Grant & Jody Wisternoff - Anjunadeep 06
Nothing screams 'I have just discovered underground music' quite like a pristine, freshly-bought bucket hat and a cross-body bumbag worn tight against the chest. These absolute legends are ready to shuffle until their knees give out, completely oblivious to the fact they look like 1990s fishermen. Yet, even the fashion victims couldn't ruin the immaculate vibes of this [DJ] live set. Soft, pulsating blue lights wash over the industrial pillars of this [venue], creating a deeply hypnotic atmosphere for the unknown genre purists.
Taking a look at this [DJ] [venue] tracklist, the technical execution is incredibly sorted. Operating at a chugging 120.1 BPM average, the journey flows through 7A and 9B keys, constructing a slow-burning energy arc that creeps up on you. The mixing is incredibly patient, blurring the lines between tracks until you forget what song is playing. A true crate digger was behind the decks tonight, unearthing hidden gems that kept the dancefloor absolutely locked.
Throwing in ZHU - Cocaine Model halfway through was a masterstroke, injecting just the right amount of filth into the room. The sonic journey is a proper trip. The opening track, Jayeson Andel - Awe (Part II), slowly reels the audience into a trance-like state. Closing out the madness, the closing track, 16BL - Premium Emo, delivers an emotional gut-punch that leaves the crowd begging for one more tune.
